Sumit Nagal advances to main round of men’s singles category at ASB Classic tournament in New Zealand

In tennis, India’s Sumit Nagal has advanced to the main round of the men’s singles category at the ASB Classic tournament in Auckland, New Zealand, today. He defeated the top seed, Adrian Mannarino of France, 7-6, 6-3, in the final qualifying round this morning. Earlier, Nagal defeated Alexander Klintcharov of New Zealand 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the qualifiers yesterday.

 

In men’s doubles, India’s Yuki Bhambri and his companion Albano Olivetti of France will take on the pair of Sander Arends of the Netherlands and Luke Johnson of the United Kingdom in the pre-quarterfinal tomorrow.

 

The ASB Classic has been held in Auckland since 1956. Played in the week prior to the Australian Open, the ATP 250 event is a crucial step in preparation for the year’s first Grand Slam tournament.
