Sudan: 65 civilians killed in artillery attack by paramilitary Rapid Support Forces on Omdurman

In Sudan, at least 65 civilians were killed in an artillery attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Omdurman, a city north of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum. According to a statement from the Khartoum State press office, a shelling strike killed 22 people in a passenger bus at the Karari locality bus station in northern Omdurman.

The statement said the remaining victims were casualties of simultaneous shelling that targeted a nearby market and a health center. Earlier on Monday, the RSF accused the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) of bombing a market in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, resulting in at least 30 fatalities. However, the SAF denied the allegations. The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF has seen both sides intensify their offensives. Sudan has been embroiled in a violent conflict between the SAF and RSF since mid-April 2023. According to estimates by International Organisations, the conflict has resulted in more than 27,000 deaths and displaced over 14 million people.
