Subdued rainfall over northeast and remaining parts of east India is likely to continue during next 4-5 days: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that exceptionally heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places over Konkan and south Gujarat State today. In its forecast, it said, extremely heavy rainfall activity is likely to continue over Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat during the next two days and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall thereafter. It also predicted, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Odisha for the next three days and over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Telangana, and Interior Karnataka during the next two days. IMD said, subdued rainfall over the northeast and remaining parts of east India is likely to continue during the next four to five days. The northern part of the country is expected to experience rainfall.
 
It said, under the influence of a cyclonic circulation a low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha this morning. It is likely to move slowly west-north westwards across the Odisha coast for two to three days.
