The Indian stock market took a breather today as the benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, were trading around half a percent lower each.

The 30-stock index, Sensex was down around 448 points to quote at 77,030 while the 50-stock index, Nifty slipped around 100 points to trade at 23,468 when the reports last came in.

However, in the broader market,  BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were seen holding gains.  Smallcap was rising at 0.35 per cent while MidCap saw an uptick of 0.8 percent, a shortwhile ago.
