Benchmark equity indices declined in early trade today amid profit-taking after a record rally in the last few trading sessions and selling in blue-chip stocks.

BSE Sensex was down 510 points or 0.64 per cent at 79,538 and Nifty was down 88 points or 0.36 per cent at 24,214, when the reports last came in.
