In Ladakh, the State Tourism Department is organising an Awareness-cum-Cleanliness Drive under Mission Travel for Life and Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign at Holiyal Drass in collaboration with Roots Ladakh, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department (RD&PRD), Wild Life Department, Education Department and local women Self Help Groups.
The awareness programme focusses on the importance of wildlife, forests and promotion of eco-friendly tourism. Villagers, school students, teachers, villagers, tourism stakeholders and officials of different government Departments took part enthusiastically in the Awareness programme. It is noteworthy to mention that the Mushkow valley in Drass is becoming a popular destination for tourists and wildlife enthusiasts. However, the region is also facing an acute issue of Human-Wildlife conflict.
Villagers are also being encouraged to hoist the National Flag at their houses from the 13th to the 15th of August under the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign organised by the Department. Similar programmes will be conducted at other locations as well till the 15th of August.
