Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan has said that the State Governments have a responsibility in protecting the doctors who are serving the society selflessly. Referring to the Kolkata incident,in an interaction with the media at Akashwani Chennai on Monday (19th August 2024) , the Minister said that State Governments are bound to act in a responsible manner when it comes to the security of doctors as per the guidelines given by the Union Government.
The Minister said that in 2047 India will become a super power and the Government is focussing its activities towards the direction.
The Minister accused the DMK led State Government of taking the claim of the Central Government programmes as their own. He said that 8000 Crore rupees was allocated by the Centre but the DMK is creating a false image and accusing the Centre of not releasing funds.
Referring to Sunday’s (18th August 2024) event of commemorative coins, he said that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had participated in this event on behalf of the Central Government and it was not a political one. He also said that insurance and the PM Suraksha Scheme for life insurance were given to journalists.
The Minister is reviewing all the activities of the media units. He said that all the media units have the responsibility of making the people aware of the schemes of the Union Government. Mr.Murugan asked the departments to be proactive in sharing information about the welfare schemes. Regional heads of the Press Information Bureau, Central Bureau of Communication, Central Board of Film Certification, Publication Division, Akashvani and Doordarshan from Tamilnadu, Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Puducherry participated in the review meeting.
