In view of the deteriorating Air quality in Delhi and the NCR region, Stage-2 of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Action Plan invoked across the National Capital Region from 8 AM today.
The decision was taken during the meeting of the sub-committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas in New Delhi. The Committee has urged citizens to avoid dust generating construction activities during October to January. It has also asked to avoid the open burning of solid waste and biomass.
An 11-point action plan will be applicable under Stage 2 of GRAP with immediate effect in the entire NCR. Under the action plan, the agency will carry out mechanical and vacuum sweeping and water sprinkling of the identified roads on daily basis. It will intensify inspections for strict enforcement of dust control measures at construction and demolition sites.
The committee has asked to ensure focused and targeted action for abatement of air pollution in all identified hotspots in NCR. It has also asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply to discourage use of alternate power Generating sets and equipment
