The growth has been recorded as a 4.62 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Merchandise exports contributed 1.06 billion USD, marking a 3.9 percent year-on-year rise, driven primarily by robust agricultural shipments. Notably, tea exports surged by 22 percent to 128 million USD, propelled by significant growth in bulk tea and tea packet exports.

Rubber and coconut-based products also experienced substantial gains, with rubber exports increasing by 16 percent to 89 million USD and coconut-based products rising by 25 percent. Conversely, the apparel sector, which has been an important sector for the island nation, faced a slight decline of 2 percent, totalling 421 million USD.
