Sri Lanka’s government will table a Vote on Account in Parliament today, to ensure public spending for the first four months of 2025. Earlier last week, the cabinet had approved the presentation of the Vote on Account as there was not enough time to prepare the 2025 Annual Budget. The Parliament was dissolved in September this year making way for snap elections, after which the new house convened on November 21st. Annual budgets as a convention are tabled in the Parliament in November. The cabinet had also approved presenting of the Annual Budget 2025 in January next year which is likely to be passed by March.
