A heavy rainfall warning has been issued by the department of Meteorology in Sri Lanka with prediction of thundershowers at most places in the island during the afternoon or night.

Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely in some places.

The department added that Showers or thundershowers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and Galle, Matara, Mannar and Mullaittivu districts over the next 24 hours.
