Sri Lanka Hosts Tyagaraja Aradhana, Celebrating Carnatic Music Legacy

In Sri Lanka, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre held a festival of Carnatic music, the Tyagaraja Aradhana, at Saraswati Hall in Colombo. The festival is an annual aradhana of Telugu saint composer Tyagaraja. Saint Tyagaraja attained Jeeva Samadhi in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. The aradhana witnessed the rendering of the saint’s Pancharatna Kritis. Speaking about the influence of Carnatic music, High Commissioner of India Santosh Jha noted that in both India and Sri Lanka, Carnatic music continues to be a bridge between the divine and the human soul, preserving a rich heritage while evolving with contemporary influences, ensuring its timeless beauty resonates for generations to come.
