The 76th Republic day is being celebrated in Sri Lanka at the High Commission of India in Colombo and other diplomatic offices in Sri Lanka as well.
On the occasion, the acting High Commissioner Dr Satyanjal Pandey unfurled the national flag at India House in Colombo. Remembering the sacrifices made by Indian peacekeeping forces in Sri Lanka, he laid a wreath at the IPKF memorial in Colombo.
Reading out President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the nation, Dr. Pandey highlighted the importance and significance of India’s journey as a republic.
Cultural programmes were performed by students of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre while Sri Lankan Navy band performed Ae Mere Watan ke logon and other patriotic songs. The Indian community joined the celebrations with patriotic fervour in big numbers.
