Sri Lanka gears to host Bharat Rang Mahotsav first time

Colombo is set to host Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM) for the first time as the International Theatre Festival of India marks its Silver Jubilee. Organized by the National School of Drama (NSD), the festival will run from Thursday through Sunday, at Tower Hall Theatre and Panibharatha Theatre in Colombo. The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, in collaboration with the Visual and Performing Arts University, is hosting the event. Bharat Rang Mahotsav also called Bharangam, spans 13 cities in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal from January 28 to February 16, this year. Themed “One Expression, Supreme Creation,” it will feature over 200 productions from nine countries, including Russia, Italy, and Spain. Colombo’s lineup includes Tajmahal Ka Tender and Babuji in Hindi, along with Sinhala plays Romeo and Juliet and Sindu Kirilli-2. A 22-member NSD team from New Delhi will perform during the festival at Colombo.
