Speaking exclusively to Akashvani, Union Power Minister RK Singh has said that India will emerge as an exporter of solar modules in coming years and generate 65 percent of its electricity from non-fossil fuels by 2030.
 
He also came down heavily on States giving free power despite ballooning discom debt. The Minister said that the States which are borrowing for providing free electricity are creating liability for future generations. Referring to a study carried out by the Power Ministry, he said that States including Delhi which were once cash rich are now facing fund shortages.
