Union Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Draft National Sports Governance Bill 2024 represents a transformative step toward establishing a robust and transparent sports governance structure in the country. Chairing a consultation meeting in New Delhi today, Dr Mandaviya highlighted that the legislation is intended to empower athlete-centric federations, introduce the Safe Sports Policy, and establish an Appellate Sports Tribunal.
Representatives from the Indian Olympic Association, National Sports Federations, and National Sports Promotion Organisations took part in the meeting to deliberate on the draft bill. The meeting aimed to gather insights, suggestions, and feedback from various stakeholders to create a law that benefits Indian sports. Dr Mandaviya said that the government is building a robust framework that not only elevates athletes but also strengthens the country’s position on the global sports stage.
The Draft National Sports Governance Bill 2024 establishes a comprehensive framework to promote the development and welfare of sportspersons, ensure ethical governance, and provide effective dispute-resolution mechanisms.
