Special train between Maharashtra & Danapur for transport of perishable goods

Union Railways Minister Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw today flagged off the Shetkari Samruddhi Special Train from Maharashtra’s Devlali to Bihar’s Danapur via video conferencing.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vaishnaw said farmers from Nashik and Devlali region in Maharashtra will be able to send their produce at a nominal cost to Danapur in Bihar via this special train. He added that the train has small parcel vans and facilities to transport perishable goods to provide new markets to farmers and that too cheaply and conveniently.

Stating that the railways have been upgrading and expanding at a high speed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the minister informed that this year’s budget earmarked close to 15 thousand and 940 crore rupees for the development of rail infrastructure in Maharashtra as compared to an average annual allocation of one thousand and 171 crore rupees before 2014. Besides Vande Bharat trains, Mr Vaishnaw said that 41 projects to lay new railway lines and the development of 132 stations as Amrit stations are underway in the state
