Special Olympics Bharat organizes mega screening event to support specially abled children of Kargil

In Ladakh, to support specially abled children of Kargil, Special Olympics Bharat, in collaboration with the Voluntary Meducare Society and Baqirya Health Care and Research Centre, organized a mega screening event at the Baqirya complex Biamathang, Kargil. The event saw the participation of over 200 children who underwent extensive medical check-ups conducted by a team of specialists, including Physicians, Ophthalmologists, ENT specialists, and Dental Surgeons.

 

The primary aim of the programme was to screen these children for potential participation in the Special Olympics 2024. This comprehensive screening ensures that the children receive the necessary medical evaluations, paving the way for their inclusion in the prestigious sporting event.

 

The inauguration of the event was graced by the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil as the Chief Guest. The event also saw the presence of the newly elected Member of Parliament from Ladakh Haji Hanifa Jan, the Executive Councillor for Education, and various officers from the District Administration.

 

The collaborative initiative underscores the commitment to enhancing the health and opportunities of specially-abled children in the region.
By facilitating such events, the organizers aim to provide these children with the platform and support they need to excel in sports and beyond.
