Special lecture on Tagore's thinking on rural development organised in Dhaka

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Dhaka  organised a special lecture on the occasion of 82nd death anniversary of Kaviguru Rabindranath Thakur.  Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank and renowned Tagore Scholar Dr. Atiur Rahman delivered special lecture on 'Tagore's thinking on rural development in the light of his stay in East Bengal'. Dr Atiur Rahman said Tagore was not only a poet and literary person but also a deeply sensitized social thinker.

Dr Rahman said Rabindranath's stay in East Bengal deeply impacted his mindset and literary creativity and also inspired him to established Srineketan near Shantiniketan to improve the life of  lots of the disadvantaged through modern farming and non-farm activities.

He further said Tagore is more pertinent even today due to his multifaceted interests and practical activities besides the cultural creations.
