SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav to contest from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat; to file his nomination tomorrow

Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav has decided to fight the Lok Sabha elections this time. He will file his nomination from the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat tomorrow. Two days ago, the party had announced Tej Pratap Yadav’s name as a candidate for the Kannauj seat but later on, Akhilesh Yadav decided to fight for the seat.

Tomorrow is the last day for filing nominations for the seat that will go to the polls in the 4th phase.

Akhilesh Yadav will be the fifth person from the Mulayam Singh Yadav family who will contest the parliamentary election this time. This is also the first time in the political history of Uttar Pradesh that five members from a political heavyweight family are contesting elections at the same time. While his wife Dimple Yadav is the candidate from the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, Akhilesh’s cousin Dharmendra Yadav is contesting from Azamgarh. His cousin and son of Samajwadi Party General Secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav, Aaditya Yadav is a candidate from Badayun while another cousin Akshay Yadav who is the son of party MP Professor Ram Gopal Singh Yadav is contesting from the Ferozabad constituency.

In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections four members from the Mulayam Singh Yadav family contested the parliamentary elections.
