The South West Monsoon is active in all parts of Bihar, triggering heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state. The Met Department has predicted very heavy rainfall in Jamui, Lakhisarai and Banka districts today. Heavy rainfall is also expected in South Central parts of Bihar including Patna, Jehanabad, Arwal, Gaya, Buxar, Bhojpur and adjoining areas.

Akashvani’s correspondent reports, that incessant rainfall in the Terai region of the Himalayas has led to the rise of the water level of several rivers originating from Nepal. According to the Central Water Commission, the Koshi River has crossed the warning level in Supaul and Baltara. Mahananda and Parman are also flowing above the danger level at several places like Taiyabpur, Dhengraghat and Araria.

Several low-line areas in Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj and Purnea are also facing flood-like situations due to the rise of water levels in rivers. Gandak, Bagmati Kamal Balan and its tributaries are also showing a rising trend in Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur and Madhubani districts. The border outpost of SSB and the connecting road at Indo Nepal border in Sonbarsa Bazar in Sitamarhi are also submerged due to the overtopping of water of the Jheem River. In Sheohar Bagmati River is also flowing above danger level at Belwa and Dubbaghat. The flood fighting team of the water resources department are vigilant in view of the present situation in the state.
