The Met Department confirms the onset of monsoon in Kerala, a day earlier than the previous prediction. The state has been witnessing heavy pre-monsoon rainfall for the last few days. All 14 districts of the state are under yellow alert. As the rain continues, severe waterlogging is being reported in many districts, including Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. Relief camps have been opened in the affected regions. The state disaster management authorities had issued warnings of landslides in hilly regions. The water level continues to rise in major rivers. Fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea on the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts.
