The Software Development Institute in Bengaluru has indigenously developed the Radar Simulator in just eight months and operationalized it at INS Hansa Naval Air station in Goa. The Institute is the premier software establishment of the Indian Air Force specialising in Avionics Software design development, integration, testing and airworthiness certification. The Radar Simulator developed indigenously consists of Surveillance and Precision Approach radar capabilities, Instructor WorkStation and voice elements. The simulator is meant for the training of personnel at the training institutes. Fifty airbases and Five Naval bases will get such upgraded simulators. The Software Development Institute is also working in the field of avionics system integration on fighter aircraft of the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. Sensors, weapons and software defined radio will be part of the system integration plan.
