Sikkim: Governor & CM Pay Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

On the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay paid tribute at the statue of Gandhi at MG Marg in the state capital Gangtok today.

 

The Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, state Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, and other senior officers of the civil and police administration of the state government also paid tribute at the statue of Gandhi on this day.

 

Today marks the culmination of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, with the theme “Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskaar Swachhata” as a befitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s enduring legacy of cleanliness and service to the nation. On this day, the State not only honours the Father of the Nation but also celebrates the unwavering effort of local bodies, organizations and individuals who have dedicated themselves to the good cause of the nation. Various awards were also presented as part of the celebration in honour of those who have significantly contributed with a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and uplifting the community.
