The annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra ended this morning in Jammu and Kashmir. More than 5 lakh pilgrims drawn from various parts of the country paid their obeisance at the holy cave shrine this year. More from our correspondent:
The holy mace of Lord Shiva called “Chhari Mubarak” reached Shri Amarnath Ji Cave Shrine in the Sounth Kashmir Himalayas early this morning, making the formal end of the 43-day-long Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The Yatra had commenced on June 29, this year.A group of sadhus led by Custodian of the holy Mace Mahant Deependra Giri carrying Chhari Mubarak reached Shri Amarnath Ji cave early this morning after spending a night at Panchtarni.
This year, the overall flow of Yatris was remarkable after several years, as more than 5 lakh Yatris visited the holy cave shrine this year and paid obeisance to Lord Shiva. The Yatris visited the Holy Cave from both the longest Pahalgam track in Anantnag and the shortest but steepest Baltal track in Ganderbal district. On the occasion of Shravan-Punima coinciding Raksha Bhandan today, the Chhari Mubarak was taken to the holy cave of Shri Amarnath ji before sunrise, and the pooja began with the rising sun, and with its culmination, this yatra has ended peacefully this morning.
