Sensex Up 0.12% & NSE Nifty Gains 0.11%

India’s equity benchmark indices rallied to record highs with the BSE midcap index ending on a flat note, while the small-cap index was up by 0.3 per cent.

 

At the closing bell, the Sensex, which is a pack of 30 companies, surged 98 points or 0.12 Percent, at 82,988 and the NSE Nifty was up 27 points at 25,383.  

 

In the Sensex index, 15 out of 30 Companies registered loss.

 

The top gainers today were, NTPC gained 2.44 percent, JSW Steel surged 1.73 per cent and L & T jumped 1.35 per cent.

 

Conversely, Bajaj Finance dropped 3.36 per cent, Hindustan Unilever lost 2.30 per cent and Bajaj Fin Services slipped 1.89 per cent.

 

In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, FIVE out of 20 Sectors ended in negative territory.

 

In top laggards FMCG slipped 0.51 percent, Telecommunication plunged 0.44 percent and services dropped 0.21 percent.  

 

In top gainers today Utilities gained 1.97 per cent, Power was up by 1.93 per cent and Metal surged by 0.65 per cent. 

 

The overall market breadth at the BSE was negative as out of 4,201 Companies, shares of 2,151 Companies advanced; 1957 declined and 93 remained unchanged.
