Indian benchmark indices extended gain after falling for five consecutive sessions. The recovery today was driven by a robust rally in metal and healthcare stocks.
The 30 share index, Sensex soared more than 1,000 points or over 1.5 per cent to trade at 81,278 while the Nifty reclaimed the 2400 mark with gains of around 400 points or 1.6 per cent at 24,800 when the reports last came in. In line with the stock indices, both the Mid Cap and Small Cap indices at the BSE were also trading with gains of over one percent.
