Sensex slips 53 points to close at 79,997

India’s Equity Benchmark Indices closed mix after recovery in the final hours on Friday (5th July 2024). At close, the Sensex slipped 53 points, or 0.07 percent to close at 79,997. Nifty registered a slim gain of 22 points, or 0.09 percent to settle at 24,324. Nearly 380 companies hit their fresh 52 week high in the intra day trade on BSE.

In the broader market at the BSE, Midcap index hit its fresh all-time high during the session. It closed 0.75 per cent higher. The BSE Smallcap index also hit a fresh record high before ending 0.70 per cent higher.

17 out of 30 companies registered gains in the Sensex index. The top three gainers today were SBIN 2.48 percent, Reliance 2.32 percent and Hinduunilever 2.01  percent.

Conversely, the three major laggards were, HDFC Bank 4.55 percent, Titan 1.99 percent and Tata Steel 0.85 percent.

In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 14 out of 20 sectors logged gains. The top three gainers were, Oil and Gas 1.77 percent, Energy 1.70 percent, and Industrials 1.48 percent.

Conversely, Financial Services 0.59 percent Consumer Durables 0.43 percent and Bankex 0.18 percent were the 3 major laggards.

The overall Market breadth at the BSE was positive. Out of 4,016 Companies, the shares of 2,242 companies advanced, 1,686 declined and 88 remain unchanged.
