Domestic Stock Indices, Sensex and Nifty registered a gain of around half a percent. At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed 378 points, or 0.47 percent higher at 80,803. the NSE Nifty also ended up by 126 points, or 0.51 percent, at 24,699.
In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap Index rose nearly one percent the Small-cap indices gained above half a percent.
In the Sensex index, 14 out of 30 Companies registered gains. The top gainers today were, Bajaj FinServ more than 3 percent, IndusInd Bank and Tech Mahendra more than 2 percent and Bajaj Finance more than one and half a percent. Conversely, the major laggards were, Bharti Airtel more than nearly one and half percent, ITC around half a percent and Adani Ports and JSW Steel more than 0.2 percent.
In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 18 Sectors logged gain while Capital Goods and FMCG ended almost flat. Financial Services and Utilities registered more than one percent gains, Bankex and Power settled nearly one percent up.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive, out of 4,036 Companies, shares of 2,371 Companies advanced, 561 declined and 104 remain unchanged.
In NSE, 157 Companies hit their 52 week high, 12 hit their 52 week low.
