Equity benchmark indices, the Nifty50 and Sensex opened lower today, tracking weak global cues. Both domestic indices plunged nearly 1% in early trading due to a broad selloff. Sensex, the pack of 30 companies were trading 678 points or 0.83 per cent down at 81,190 while Nifty 50 was down 215 points or 0.86 per cent to trade at 24,796 when the reports last came in.
The broader market at the BSE was also seen struggling, with the BSE MidCap index down by 0.72 percent and the SmallCap index down by 0.19 percent a short while ago.
