India’s equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty ended in positive territory with a gain of over 0.1 per cent each.

At close, the Sensex gained 90 points at 83,079 and the NSE Nifty was up 34 points at 25,418.

In the NSE, 148 companies hit their 52-week high, and 28 hit their 52-week low.

In the broader market, the Mid-Cap index ended marginally low by 0.08 per cent and the Small-Cap index fell 0.1 per cent.

In the Sensex index, 15 out of 30 companies settled with gains.

The top gainers were, Bharti Airtel rose more than one and a half per cent, NTPC and Mahindra Mahindra increased more than one per cent and Titan added nearly one per cent.

While the top laggards today were, Tata Motors lost more than one per cent, Adani Ports and JSW Steel shed nearly one per cent and ITC as well as Tata Steel fell 0.91 per cent each.

In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 13 out of 20 sectors logged gains.

The top gainers today were, Realty more than half per cent, Telecommunication and Consumer Durables nearly half per cent and Utilities added 0.4 per cent. 

The top laggards were, Metal shed more than half per cent, Services declined 0.3 per cent and Commodities lost 0.2 per cent.

The overall market breadth at the BSE was negative as out of 4,058 Companies, shares of 1,714  advanced, 2,239 declined and 105 remained unchanged.
