Indian Markets End Losing Streak: Sensex-Nifty Fall

Benchmark domestic equity indices today logged losses, snapping their three-day winning streak. The broader market indices at BSE, including the Mid-Cap and the Small-Cap indices, ended nearly unchanged. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, dropped 423 points, or 0.55 percent, to close at 76,619.

 

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 fell 109 points, or 0.47 percent, to settle at 23,203. In the Forex market, the rupee today fell by 6 paise to settle at 86 rupees and 61 paise against the US dollar. In the Indian Bullion Market, 24 Karat Gold was trading at 79,000 rupees per 10 grams, while Silver 999 Fine was trading at 91,680 rupees per kilogram, a short while ago. Brent Crude was trading at 81 dollars and 32 cents per barrel, and WTI Crude was trading at around 78 dollars and 95 cents per barrel, according to the latest reports.
