Sensex finishes above 66,100 mark, Nifty adds 52 points to settle at 19,716 points

The Key domestic share indices today ended with marginal gains. The BSE Sensex finished above 66,100 while the NSE Nifty ended above 19,700 points. Both indices gain marginally amid positive global cues. The Sensex gained 173 points, or 0.26 percent, to end at 66,119 while the Nifty added 52 points, or 0.26 percent, to settle at 19,716 points.

In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index gained 0.76 percent while the Small-cap index rose 0.68 percent.

In the Sensex Index, which is a pack of 30 companies, shares of 20 companies appreciated while those 10 companies declined. Larsen & Toubro gained 1.7 percent, ITC rose one and half a percent and SunPharma advanced 1.4 percent. On the other hand, Titan declined 1.2 percent, SBI fell 0.8 percent and HDFC Bank slipped 0.7 percent.

In sectoral indices at the BSE, 17 sectors gained while three logged losses. Capital Goods and Healthcare, both indices gained 1.1 percent followed by the Bankex sector which rose one percent. On the other side, the Oil and gas sector declined 0.4 percent, Consumer durables fell 0.3 percent and Bankex slipped 0.1 percent. The overall market breadth was positive as shares of 2,008 companies appreciated and 1,640 companies declined. A total of 151 shares remained unchanged.
