Domestic Benchmark equity indices traded lower in the opening session today amid a slew of mixed global cues. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined by 440 points, to trade at 78,777, while the Nifty 50 fell by 106 points to trade at 23,846 in the morning deals.

On the other hand, the rupee saw some recovery from its all-time low level and appreciated six paise to 85 rupees 7 paise against the US dollar in early trade today.
