Sensex falls 361 points; Nifty down too by 92 points

Domestic Benchmark indices, the Sensex and the Nifty halted a three-day bull run on Tuesday (26th March 2024). The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange settled 0.5 percent lower at 72,470 with a fall of 361 points while Nifty was down too by 92 points or 0.42 percent at 22,004. Negative trade in both the indices can be attributed to volatility risen ahead of monthly Future & Options expiry.

 

In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index gained 0.71 per cent and the Small-cap index down by 0.11 percent.

 

In the Sensex Index, which is a pack of 30 companies, shares of 10 companies appreciated while 20 companies declined. Bajaj Finance climbed by 2.18 percent, LT gained 1.38 percent and NTPC appreciated by 1.31 percent.

 

On the other hand, Power Grid plunged by 2.07 percent, Bharti Airtel fell 1.6 percent and WIPRO declined 1.5 percent.

 

In sectoral indices at the BSE, 13 sectors logged gains while 07 fell. Realty index rose 1.45 percent,
Services Index gained 1.48 percent and TECK index added 0.83 percent.
