Sensex Falls 203 Points, Nifty Ends Flat; Rupee Gains 30 Paise Against USD

The benchmark domestic equity indices today ended in negative territory for the third straight session. The broader market indices at the BSE outperformed the benchmark indices. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, shed 203 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 75,736. Meanwhile, the National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 ended nearly flat, with a fall of 20 points to settle at 22,913.

 

In the Forex market, the rupee today strengthened by 30 paise to settle at 86 rupees and 66 paise against the US dollar. In the Indian Bullion Market, 24 Karat Gold was trading at 86,340 rupees per 10 grams, and Silver 999 Fine was trading at 97,820 rupees per kilogram, a short while ago. Brent Crude was trading at 76 dollars and 28 cents per barrel, and WTI Crude was trading at around 72 dollars and 33 cents per barrel when reports last came in.
