Sensex Falls 201 Points, Nifty Drops 73 Points Amid Volatility

The benchmark domestic equity indices on Thursday failed to hold initial gains and ended with modest losses. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, fell 201 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 73,829. The National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 also lost 73 points, or 0.33 percent, to settle at 22,397. In the global crude market, Brent Crude was trading over 0.6 percent down at 70 dollars and 52 cents per barrel, and WTI Crude also fell over 0.7 percent to trade at 67 dollars and 20 cents per barrel, when reports last came in. In the Indian bullion market, 24-karat gold was trading up at 87,100 rupees per 10 grams, while silver 999 fine was trading down at 99,270 rupees per kilogram, when reports last came in.
