Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and the Nifty touched a record high in the intra-day trade today. The positive uptick in both the indexes were primarily fueled by rally in IT and FMCG stocks. At 2 pm, the BSE Sensex was up 309 points or 0.38 percent at 82,095 while the Nifty50 was trading at 25,132 with a rise of 80 points or 0.32 percent.

However, in the broader markets at BSE, both the Midcap and smallcap indices were trading around 0.5 percent down, when the reports last came in.
