India’s Equity Benchmark Indices Sensex and Nifty had a marginal gain today. The BSE Sensex added 100 points, or 0.12 per cent, to close at 81,455. The NSE Nifty added 21 points, or 0.09 per cent, to close at 24,857.

In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index was up nearly by 0.3 per cent, the Small-cap index advanced nearly one per cent.

16 out of 30 companies registered gains in the Sensex index. The top gainers today were, Tata Motors and NTPC more than 3 per cent, Power Grid and Bajaj Finserve 2 per cent and Asian Paints 1.7 per cent. Conversely, the major laggards were, Sun Pharma and ITC more than 1 per cent, Hindustan Unilever at 0.9 per cent and Bharti Airtel at 0.7 per cent.

In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 16 out of 20 sectors logged gain. The top gainers were Utilities at nearly 2 per cent, Power at one and a half per cent Consumer Durables at more than 1 per cent. Conversely, the major laggards were, FMCG nearly 1 per cent, Health care 0.3 per cent and Tech and Information Technology ended flat.

The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive, out of 4,023 Companies, shares of 2,295 Companies advanced, 1,607 declined and 121 remain unchanged.
