Sensex and Nifty End Slightly Lower, Sensex Drops 280 Points and Nifty Falls by 66 Points

 India’s Equity Benchmark Indices Sensex and Nifty remained range-bound and ended with a slight fall today. The BSE Sensex dropped 280 points, or 0.35 per cent, to close at 80,149. The NSE Nifty is down by 66 points or 0.27 per cent, to close at 24,414.

 

 

In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index was up by 0.68 per cent, while the Small-cap index rose 1.91 per cent.

 

 

11 out of 30 companies registered gains in the Sensex index.

 

The top gainers today were, Tech Mahendra and NTPC 2.7 percent, Tata Motors 2.6 percent and Sun Pharma 1 percent.

 

Conversely, the major laggards were, Bajaj Financial Serve 2.4 per cent, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance Hindustan Unilever 1.8 per cent and Adani Ports 1.6 per cent.

 

 

In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 16 out of 20 sectors logged gain.

 

 

The top gainers were Oil and Gas 1.7 per cent, Energy 1.6 per cent and Utilities 1.3 per cent.

 

 

Conversely, the major laggards were, FMCG and Financial Services 0.2 percent and Bankex 1 percent.

 

 

The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive, out of 4,007 Companies, shares of 2,802 Companies advanced, 1,094 declined and 111 remained unchanged.
