At the Indian Open Throws Competition 2025, Seema clinched the gold medal in the women’s discus throw event in Navi Mumbai, with a 56.39-metre effort yesterday. The National Games champion finished well ahead of second-placed Neetika Verma (50.23 metres) and bronze medallist Priya (48.88 metres), who completed the podium.
The opening day of the competition also featured qualifying rounds for the men’s javelin and discus throw finals, scheduled for today.
In the javelin qualifiers, Shashank Patil led the qualification round with 72.48 metres, followed by Nitesh Yadav (72.34 metres) and Sunny Sheoran (71.43 metres).
In the men’s discus throw qualifiers, Abhimanyu topped qualifying with a throw of 54.01m, leading a field of 12 finalists.
