The second phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on 25th of this month. 26 assembly segments including 11 seats spread over three districts of Jammu Division will go to polls in this phase. Mata Vaishno Devi assembly constituency in Reasi district will go to polls in second phase on 25th of this month.
The 58-Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly Constituency of the district comes into existence after delimitation as it was earlier part of Reasi Assembly Constituency. The constituency has 56,506 electors including 29, 660 male and 26,846 females. 90 polling stations have been established in the constituency including 1 Pink, 2 Green, and 2 PwD polling stations, reflecting its importance in the district’s electoral structure. 7 candidates are in the final electoral fray including 4 Independent candidates. The prominent candidates are NC-Congress alliance candidate, Bhupinder Singh, BJP leader Baldev Raj Sharma, JKPDP leader Pratap Krishan Sharma and Jugal Kishore, Bansi Lal, Raj Kumar and Sham Singh as independent candidates. Besides other arrangements adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth and incident free elections.
