Scrutiny of nomination papers held for single-phase Haryana Assembly Elections

In Haryana, scrutiny of nomination papers was held today for single-phase Assembly Elections scheduled for October 5. State Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal said that 1,747 nomination papers have been filed by all political parties and independent candidates. Of these, 1,561 candidates’ nominations were found to be correct for the elections. Nominations can be withdrawn until September 16. The Chief Electoral Officer said, the Bhiwani Assembly constituency has the highest number of 31 candidates, while the Nangal Chaudhary Assembly constituency has the lowest with 9 candidates.

It is worth mentioning that in the 2014 Haryana Assembly elections, 1,351 candidates contested, whereas in the 2019 Assembly elections, this number was 1,169.
