Schools shut down as temperature soars in Nepal

The temperature across Nepal including the Kathmandu Valley has soared sharply, making normal life difficult in the districts of Tarai. The Meteorological Forecasting Division reported that the maximum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley reached approximately 33 degrees Celsius today, marking a continued increase over the past few days. The onset of the monsoon season is still expected in Nepal which may arrive in a week, until then temperatures are likely to soar further. Presently Nepal is experiencing the combined effects of local winds, the Westerly wind, and the partial impact of a low-pressure system centred around Bihar, India.

The schools at Tulasipur Sub-Metropolitan City have been closed for five days from May 31. Meanwhile, schools operating within Rapti Rural Municipality are closed for two days.
