The Supreme Court today dismissed a plea filed by the West Bengal Government challenging the Calcutta High Court order transferring the probe in the West Bengal Municipality Recruitment scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The three-member Bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud remarked that the municipality recruitment scam appeared to be linked to the teachers recruitment scam which is under investigation by the CBI and ED. The other members of the Bench were Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra. The Apex Court also rejected the State Government's plea for staying  CBI and ED probe against TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee in the teachers’ recruitment scam.
