The Russian Defence Ministry has said that a military transport plane carrying 15 people has crashed on Tuesday. Meanwhile, it is unclear if there are any survivors.

The ministry said, the IL-76 aircraft with eight crew and seven passengers on board crashed in the Ivanovo region. It added that an engine fire during takeoff was the likely cause of the crash.

According to media reports, it is the second time this year that a Russian IL-76 military transport plane has crashed. Two months ago, another IL-76 crashed, which was carrying dozens of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
