Russia expresses strong condemnation of Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut

Russia has expressed strong condemnation of Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in a recent airstrike in Beirut. Russian Foreign Ministry labelled the act as yet another political assassination and called on Israel to immediately stop hostilities in Lebanon. Yesterday, the Israel Defense Forces has claimed that they had killed the Hezbollah leader in Friday’s strikes on Beirut.

In a statement shared on social media, it said Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world. Hours after Israel claimed killing the 64-year-old Nasrallah, the Iran-backed Hezbollah yesterday pledged it would continue the holy war against the enemy and in support of Palestine amid fears that a regional war is now inevitable. Israel has intensified its airstrikes across Lebanon since Monday, launching its most extensive action in the country since 2006. The recent fighting has also displaced more than two lakh Lebanese in the past week, according to the United Nations.
