RPF constable shot dead four persons on board running Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express train near Palghar railway station

A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable today shot dead four persons, including an assistant sub-inspector, on board a running Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express train near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra. The accused has been arrested. Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Public Relation Officer of Western Railway, Sumit Kumar said that the RPF constable, Chetan Kumar opened fire on his colleague ASI Tikaram Meena and during the incident, three other passengers were also shot.
 
He added that according to a preliminary investigation, he opened fire using his official weapon. He further said that the reason for the firing is not clear yet and investigations are underway. Western Railway has announced ex-gratia compensation for the family of deceased ASI Tikaram Meena.
