Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari today stressed the importance of saving the lives of people in road accidents. Launching the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) in New Delhi, the Minister underlined that it is essential to establish communication and cooperation among the stakeholders in order to mitigate the mistakes that the country has been repeating in road engineering and automobile engineering. During his speech, the Minister also expressed the government's ambition to make the automobile industry of 15 lakh crore rupees.

Briefing on the BHARAT NCAP initiative, Mr Gadkari said it will greatly push the safety and quality of the vehicles in India, while simultaneously promoting healthy competition among OEMs to manufacture safer vehicles.
