Restoring trust between India & China is a critical prerequisite for advancing disengagement process: COAS General Upendra Dwivedi

Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi emphasized that restoring trust between India and China is a critical prerequisite for advancing the disengagement process between the two nations.

General Dwivedi made the remarks during an event in New Delhi today. Commenting on the recent agreement between India and China regarding patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, General Dwivedi highlighted that the primary objective is to return to the status quo of April 2020 by the two sides. He added that both sides need to reassure and convince each other to move forward with the subsequent phases of disengagement.

During the event, General Dwivedi also launched the book A General Reminisce: A Life Under Fire in Kashmir. Addressing the gathering, he underlined the Indian Army’s transformation into a modern and agile force, driven by the vision of Atmanirbharta. He further emphasized the army’s focus on indigenization alongside modernization.
